The Law of Reciprocity is a Kingdom Principle, relatively easy for us to understand and identify since it is so visibly pervasive in the physical world.
A basic law of physics says that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. The jet age which we live in is founded in it.
In the interpersonal realm, we find the same principle prevailing. If you smile at someone, he most likely will smile back. If you strike someone the chances are he will hit you back. If you express kindness, you are almost certain to have someone express kindness in return. If you are critical of everything and everyone, you can expect to receive critical judgment from others.

Individuals today are in crisis, and the Law of Reciprocity is what we all need. The simple message of this law gives strong encouragement to those who are suffering economically, threatened by unemployment or foreclosure. They, quite bluntly, need money. The stories are much the same. “What do I do? I’m using everything I have, and still my bills aren’t paid. It seems I’ve been in debt forever.”
As simple as it might look, the Law of Reciprocity is the solution. The world sees such thinking as foolishness, but the Lord says it is wisdom because it is founded on truth. And the truth is… in Proverbs 1:7 says.. “the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline” Proverbs 1:22 ‘How long will you simple ones love your simple ways? How long will mockers delight in mockery and fools hate knowledge?”
As we hear Christ’s words, “Give and it will be given to you,” they take us immediately to His commandment to “seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” We saw that “all these things” means whatever is needed to provide what we need to live fruitful and productive lives.
Giving is foundational. We have to give of ourselves. We have to give our money. We have to give our time. And this foundational truth works in both the invisible and the visible worlds.
In the world, we measure return in percentage of 1 or 2 or 3 or 5 or even 10, and sometimes 12 to 15. In the kingdom, the measures are 3,000 percent, 6,000 percent, and 10,000 percent as noted in the parable of the sower that the seed that fell on good ground, He said, yieded crops of 30fold, 60fold, and a 100fold.
This is a beautiful promise for those facing economic distress today. “Test Me,” says the Lord, “Prove Me.” Malachi 3:10 “Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the LORD of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need.”
Let us all be certain of this as of anything of our lives; If we are in financial trouble, the smartest thing you can do is to start giving money away. Give tithes and offering to the Lord. Give time. Give work. Give love. That sounds crazy. But we have seen how the plan of God is filled with paradox. If we need money, then begin to give away some of whatever you have. Your return, poured into your lap, will be great, pressed down, and running over.

Begin to plant your seed that it may do well with you…
And other seeds fell into good soil and produced grain, growing up and increasing and yielding thirtyfold and sixtyfold and a hundredfold.” Mark 4:8
